| Dream Map workshop Dream Map Workshop I started Dream-map inspired by "Collage Therapy". In this workshop, participants will have an opportunity to directly experience the relationship between waking creativity and dreaming in a way that stimulates further creative work after the session. "Dream map" is a "self-map". Dream map will bring dream material into waking life through the language of form and feeling. As artists throughout time have known, it is possible to bring dreams into waking life through the use of shape, texture, position and color. When one trusts the eyes and hands to guide the way, it is possible to transcend the limitations of words and culture. “Often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain.”------- Jung This workshop offers a direct, non-threatening approach to creating a dream-map that requires no background in art. This workshop is followed by an explanation of the underlying compositional principals that guide the unconscious positioning of images. Participants will leave with a deeper awareness of how dream imagery can emerge visually into waking life. *Group session (2~4people recommended) Fee: $15 for 2hour session, materials included *Private session Fee $20/hour, materials included One session takes approximately 2hours. *Contact me for detail information |

Thank you for taking the time to show me the discovery process today. I certainly liked that you showed me at the end the 'map" you made because I feel that the outcome was not conditioned by my mind in anyway. It was very eye opening and I will continue to use it in the future. D.M. Rin began the workshop with stretching and releasing exercises. We released what we need to let go and, consequently, opened to the unconscious, the higher self. The workshop is based on Carl Jung’s psychological Theory. As I chose my images I kept in mind Rin’s guidance, “choose images that you respond particularly to”. Other directions she gave, limiting the amount of sources to look through and setting the amount of time, helped facilitate the process. I placed images without a lot of forethought, letting the process flow. Sometimes, placing images without any conscious reason, sometimes choosing images that just made me happy. Somewhere in the process I had entered an altered state and the unconscious just took over. Using Jungian theory, Rin helped interpret the messages deep from my unconscious (or, as I believe) my higher consciousness. It was revealing and enigmatic; I am compelled to go through the process again and again as I go through the process of growing, differentiating and integrating the messages of my soul. I felt like I was in an altered state throughout the rest of the day. And my dreams have been very vivid each night since the workshop. Julia C R Gray (Artist) website: www.juliacrgray.com I tried very hard to step away from conscious thought while I chose the photographs that interested or fascinated me. There was still a lot of 'me' in the final picture though that I could relate to. It was the placement of the pictures and Rin's interpretation that was surprising to me. Through that, I was able to see a pattern in my life as it exists right now and to view my foundation and my future goals, rather like Freud's theory of the id, ego, super-ego. I would like to do this again a few more times, to see if the picture changes much as my situation changes, or if what may appear as change, is just a different picture with the same meaning. It was fascinating..... and a very enjoyable afternoon. d.goth (developer of hearts of stone and hearts of stone workshops) website: http://www.dgoth.net |
